Small flat chip at rim, lid is original but not a match, as customary. (When Ohr's pottery was stored in 1907, the lids were packed separately from the teapots. 81 KARL VON RYDINGSVARD Carved wood hinged and lidded box in red, blue and gold, 1902. (Rydingsvard came to this country from Sweden and established two schools of Arts & Crafts woodcarving, in Manchester, New Hampshire, and another one in New York City, one of only a handful of artisans working in this medium to achieve international recognition. This box came from the Hewn Oaks mansion, Kezar Lake, Lovell, Maine, and once belonged to his student, the painter Stephen A. Douglas Volk [1856-1935], whose family owned that property.
