The bronze edition (1941) was made from a figure entitled El Auriga (The Charioteer, 1928), which Lucio Fontana submitted as his final diploma piece at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan in 1929. This was to be one of several large figures planned for the Monument to the Flag (Monumento a la Bandera) in Rosario, Argentina in 1940-41.

Incised number to side of work ‘1/10’. Stamped foundry mark to side of work ‘FUND F. M.’ This work is number 1 from the edition of 10.
