Bent Gabrielsen (1928 - 2014) was one of the first graduates from the prestigious Danish College of Jewellery and Silversmithing. A gifted designer and goldsmith, he went on to work for Hans Hansen and Georg Jensen prior to setting up his own workshop, Gabrielsen's Guldsmedie. His jewelry is characterized by simple, clear construction and streamlined, elegant shapes. Gabrielsen’s work won the Lunning Prize in 1964, with the chairman of the committee, Erik Bohr, writing:
“Bent Gabrielsen's jewelry carries absolute conviction as to its function; his handling of materials is so restrained and well considered that one feels this could hardly be otherwise...Every single detail of his things is worked out. There are no false effects. He does not take the easy way out."
