Capturing the effects of the Japanese American Internment Camps during WWII, this captivating piece features sliding wood panels which allow the viewer to conceal and reveal what is damaged and what is outwardly presented. This piece will be available January 2022, after its debut at Shadows from the Past: Sansei Artists and the American Concentration Camps, an exhibit at the Monterey Art Museum, focused on Executive Order 9066 and its impact.
All proceeds, including the 25% buyer's premium, benefit the James Renwick Alliance.

Wendy Maruyama

Wendy Maruyama is one of the first two women to receive a Masters of Fine Arts in Furniture Design at the Rochester Institute of Technology, New York. Her work can be found in the collections of Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C., the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco, the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, Massachusetts, and more.
