Signed, dated and inscribed to verso '1915/16 Lorser Feitelson Very early – study for a large ptg (its whereabout is unknown) An old faded photo of the large painting with the artist along side of it, is in my possession. The photo was taken on the roof of my studio in Greenwich Village about 1916/17. (Matisse’s early concept of the simplified, has always impressed me) L.F."
