Mauboussin is a renowned French jewelry house with a legacy that spans nearly two centuries, celebrated for its exquisite craftsmanship and innovative approach to jewelry design. Founded in 1827 by M. Rocher and subsequently Jean-Baptiste Noury, Mauboussin originally began as a jewelry workshop in Paris with the name Maison Noury. In 1869, Noury’s nephew, Georges Mauboussin, joined the company as an apprentice, ultimately taking over in 1898 and steering it toward becoming a premier luxury brand. Under Mauboussin's leadership, the company expanded, and by the 1920s, it had firmly established itself as a leader in French fine jewelry, known for blending traditional craftsmanship with avant-garde aesthetics.

In the Art Deco period, Mauboussin rose to prominence with its geometric and colorful designs, often featuring vibrant gemstones like rubies, emeralds, and sapphires, which were set in platinum and paired with diamonds. This period marked a golden age for Mauboussin, with pieces inspired by Eastern and Egyptian art, reflecting the global fascination with these cultures at the time. The jewelry house earned prestigious awards, including a Grand Prix at the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, which helped cement its reputation worldwide.

As the company grew, Mauboussin continued to push the boundaries of jewelry design, expanding internationally by opening boutiques in New York in the 1920s and later in Buenos Aires and London. By mid-century, Mauboussin was well-known among royals, celebrities, and elite collectors who were drawn to its signature elegance and impeccable quality. Notable clients included the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, the Maharajah of Indore, and other prominent figures.

In more recent years, Mauboussin has remained committed to accessibility, democratizing luxury by always displaying the prices of their jewelry (as of 2004) and creating high-quality jewelry pieces at more affordable prices without compromising on design or craftsmanship. This approach has allowed the brand to attract a broader audience, particularly in France and Europe. Their collections today still reflect the same innovation, boldness, and elegance that have characterized Mauboussin’s designs for nearly 200 years.
