Manon Van Kouswijk (1967-) is a Dutch artist that has worked in Melbourne since 2010. She often explores new ways to express the same archetypal ideas that have been repeated throughout the history of jewelry. She uses these ideas as templates, that she can reinvent and manipulate through exhibitions/ collaborations with other artists. She embraces the handmaking process, keeping the so called ‘imperfections’, such as fingerprints, in her finished pieces. Van Kouswijk studied at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, becoming the head of the Jewelry department from 2007-2010. Her work has been exhibited worldwide, and is part of permanent collections at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, the Stedelijk Museum, Netherlands, and the Musée des Arts Decoratifs, France.
