Born in Creußen, Germany in 1952, Georg Dobler is celebrated as one of the most influential contemporary jewelry artists. He began his training as a jeweler at the Berufsfachschule für Goldschmiedekunst and went on to receive his master’s certificate as a goldsmith in 1979 from Pforzheim. Dobler then co-founded a studio in Berlin with fellow goldsmith Winfried Krüger. He experimented with geometric and deconstructivist forms, which gained him international recognition.

Dobler has focused much of his life to educating the next generation of jewelers. Since 2002, he has been a Professor at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hildesheim, Germany. In addition to his distinctive deconstuctivist pieces, Dobler has alternatively explored much more organic and naturalist inspirations by casting creatures, such as beetles. His work has been exhibited extensively and can be found in the permeant collections of the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam among others.
