After being selected as the official timekeeper for the 1964 summer Olympics in Tokyo, Seiko focused on the development of many innovative products, including the mono-pusher (or single button) chronograph reference 5717-8990. A mono-pusher chronograph is equipped with one button to start the timing, to stop it, and to reset the chrono hand to the “0” position (normally 12 o'clock). It is widely considered the most elegant form of a chronograph watch.
