In her works, Adell displays her mastery of traditional metalworking techniques such as the Japanese mokume-gane, which produces a laminate by fusing layers of various metals or alloys resulting in a distinctive wood grain pattern. Adell’s mokume-gane ‘Touchstones’ also incorporate the Japanese technique of shakudo, consisting of calligraphic strokes of black gold and copper alloy over layers of gold.
