Carrie Adell, an accomplished jewelry designer from New Jersey, is best known for transforming common and organic objects into wearable jewels. Her artistic style ranges from classic to exuberant and is inspired by the theme of nature’s energy. In her works, Adell displays her mastery of traditional metalworking techniques such as the Japanese mokume-gane, which produces a laminate by fusing layers of various metals or alloys resulting in a distinctive wood grain pattern. Adell’s mokume-gane ‘Touchstones’ also incorporate the Japanese technique of shakudo, consisting of calligraphic strokes of black gold and copper alloy over layers of gold.
