Inscribed with the name Mrs. William Brooke Rawle. William Brooke Rawle was a Union soldier in the American Civil War. At his highest rank he was named Lieutenant Colonel, US Volunteers on April 9, 1865. He fought in the Battle of Gettysburg and saw action throughout the time of his service from 1863-1865. Multiple books containing his writing have been published including 'The Right Flank at Gettysburg' and 'Blue Blooded Cavalrymen". A flagpole dedicated to his service stands in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
