This work is the third painting in a set of three symbolic portraits created by Hoffman in 1949. It depicts the artist's aunt, Linda Kohler Frankenfield, who lived in Kutztown, PA. Her love of antiques, lamps, and music is depicted as well as her Pennsylvania German background, complete with recipes.
Signed and dated to lower right ‘RPH 1949’. Signed, titled and dated to verso ‘Portrait of Aunt Linda Richard Peter Hoffman Sept 21 1949’.
