Timeless Design
French-Vietnamese designer Jean Dinh Van was born in 1927 in Boulogne-Sur-Mer and studied fine jewelry at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He joined Cartier in 1946 and remained there for ten years, where he learned and perfected his trade. Dinh Van began as a trainee studying traditional jewelry under Jeanne Toussaint before moving on to create jewels for elite clientele. His designs for Cartier reflect his interest in bold, sleek forms, which he would go on to develop further after leaving the famed jewelry house and founding his own business in the 1960s.
