The present lot, ‘Captain Willard’ stainless steel wristwatch, Ref. 6105-8119 is an iconic design from Seiko. The model was made famous when Martin Sheen worn it in the 1979 film ‘Apocalypse’ set during the Vietnam war, as his character ‘Captain Williard’. The directors intentionally chose this specific model to display in the film; many serviceman used their wages on tour at the Post Exchanges (PX’s) to purchase this popular wristwatch and it was often the first exposure many Americans had to Japanese products.
