Dieges & Clust established its New York jewelry firm in 1898 as partners. Incorporating in 1908, they quickly expanded to Boston, Chicago, and Pittsburgh. Charles Joseph Dieges was trained as an engineer, participated in the 1904 Olympics, and was a member of many organizations, including: Ancient Order of Timers, American Numismatic Society, Elks, and Masons. His partner, Prosper Clust, learned the jewelry trade from his French father. Dieges & Clust specialized in medals and awards. Some of the jeweler's most famous pieces were the Spanish-American War medal, the 1904 Olympic medal, the Titanic-Carpathia medals, the 1936 New York Yankees World Series rings, and Lou Gerhig's farewell plaque. Dieges enlisted in WWI a year after the Masonic medal pin offered in the present lot was made.
